High School Memories CD
The tracks below comprise the souvenir CD distributed at our 50th Reunion. The CD was assembled by Rick Ludwin from analog recordings made during our high school years and converted to digital tracks for this special CD. Rupe Beckstett and Chuck Inglefield provided logistical assistance. Jack Payne provided guidance and suggestions.
Most important to the reunion committee was to feature the RRHS Fight Song with its lyrics. We managed to find it, along with the Color Song and Alma Mater as sung by the Boys' Glee Club, on a 1963 RRHS music department vinyl album release called Rhythms In River.
Also important to the committee was music from The Sceptres. Their tracks on the CD were recorded in 1966 in the basement of Rick's house in Rocky River. Mike Gee (aka Michael Stanley) kept the recordings and was happy to let us use them here.
The RRHS game summaries were part of WGAR radio's weekly Friday night program, "Plymouth Sports Spectacular," which reported area high school football and basketball scores.
The school music performance assemblies featuring The Velvetones, Dapper Derby Four and others were live performances recorded in the RRHS auditorium in, we think, 1964.
Several of the KYW radio disc jockeys recorded promos for the Riverlet and school dances that we used as part of the homeroom period morning announcements.
"Young America" was a Saturday morning WJW Cleveland radio series which each week featured musical performances from a different Northeast Ohio high school or college.
We hope you enjoy these audio memories from our high school years!
